When the sun rises each day, it brings with it new beginnings and new possibilites. Yesterday is gone and a new day arrives! It seems the sun has risen on the city of Providence. The city is experiencing a wonderful transformation and revitalization. New condos and loft-style apartments are popping up everywhere. New retailers and restaurants are opening their doors. Each day is filled with so many fun and exciting things to see and do. The downcity streets are abuzz with the excitement that is unique to urban life. In the midst of this renewal, a new church has come to the city.
Downcity Church brings with it a new approach to ministry. Dying or gone are the churches whose services are characterized by a rigid, lifeless ceremonialism, which has no impact on the lives of those who attend or the city in which they dwell. Temporary or irrelevant are the churches whose services are characterized by wishful, unfounded emotionalism, which leaves its attenders without any real, long-term answers for life's challenges. We believe that real life change happens through the transforming power of a genuine faith in Jesus that is grounded on the solid evidence of the Bible. We are a Bible-teaching church. We really, truly believe that Jesus actually did rise from the dead on Easter, and that He is living today, and that He can change any person or city's life, like He did when He lived on the earth nearly 2,000 years ago. This church has come to Providence to make known in this city that is being made new, the new life that a living Savior can bring - not just for a few days, weeks, or months, but for a lifetime. We intend to be great citizens, neighbors, and friends living out the joy of the new life God has given each one of us, not only at church, but also in our businesses and neighborhoods.
One of the great names that Jesus is given in the Bible is, "the Sunrise" (Luke 1:78). Verse 79 of that chapter states that the Sunrise came, To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. While our whole state is enjoying our changing capital city, do you know the joy of a changed life? Do you wish you could quit the habit that is secretly destroying you and your relationships with those you love? Do you feel like your life has been lived for no ultimate purpose and wish you could find real meaning in life? Do you have a gnawing sense of insecurity and uneasiness as you grow older and wonder what the future holds for you? The Bible says, Jesus is the Sunrise. He can make your life new.
Welcome to a new city! Welcome to a new church!

Ted, may God bless you in this new church. He is faithful to fulfill His calling. Remember Dr. Bob Sr's statement, "Behind His commands, He puts His omnipotence."

Hey Robert!
We have not heard back from the realtor about that building yet. He told us he was going to contact the owner, and ask him to speak with me directly. The owner spends part of his time in Europe, and part in Boston. We are waiting and praying.....Thanks for praying, too!
